So, it has been almost an entire year since my last blog post! As some of you may know, last December, I found out that I was pregnant! Somewhere between the excitement and craziness, I neglegcted this blog. Oops! Well, I found out in December that my husband and I were going to become parents.
In january, at 8 weeks and 6 days, we got our first look.
My husband thought that she looked like some kind of lizard. I couldn't believe that this crazy little thing was going to become a BABY!
Then, at 12 weeks and 6 days, we got another look.
I couldn't believe the huge difference that just 4 weeks made! I instantly felt connected to this amazing little being.
We constantly struggled with deciding on finding out the gender or keeping it a surprise. I always wanted to wait and find out during delivery but my husband really wanted to know. it was a hard decision but he ultimately won. I just figured that pregnancy and childbirth end up being all about mom and baby and that the least I could do for him was let him find out. ;) Life and marriage are all about compromise and I definitely don't mind that.
Then, it was time to find out the SEX!!
It's a GIRL!!
Since then, our whole world has changed!
My last day at work was Friday the 28th. Everyone pitched in and got us a cake and a really awesome exercise saucer. It was so fun! Little did we know, that weekend was going to be our last weekend without our little one.
On Monday, August 31st, at 5:30 in the morning, my water broke. Luckily, I was home and already in the bathroom. I had always worried about where it would happen and if I would be stuck at work.. It couldn't have worked out better. I showered, we packed, and headed off to the hospital. When they tell you to eat on the way, they aren't kidding. I was not allowed to eat anything once I got there. Let's just say, with my 26 hour labor, I was not a happy camper.
My labor story was.. well.. a difficult one. I didn't have a plan. I didn't want to spend months obsessing about things going a certain way and I didn't want to be dissapointed had something not gone how I wanted. I just didn't think a 26 hour labor was going to be a part of the plan.
On September 1st, we welcomed a beautiful baby girl. Audrey Elizabeth Blake was born at 7:16 am weighing in at 7 lbs and 1 beautiful oz. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
